Neelum Jhelum Hydroelectric Project (NJHEP) has now resumed electricity generation operation after a break of over 12-months. On August 09, 2023, the Federal Minister for Water Resources inaugurated the full resumption of power generation in a ceremony organized by NJHPC/WAPDA at the site. The NJP powerhouse is now generating electricity with all 04-Units online and fully operational. The Neelum Jhelum Hydroelectric Project had already provided more than 18 billion units of electricity to the National Grid prior to the suspension of electricity generation last year.

 
Subsequent to the completion of restoration works in the tail race tunnel, Neelum Jhelum Hydroelectric Project has resumed power generation. The Federal Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah visited Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project and resumed electricity generation by pressing the button. He also unveiled a plaque to mark resumption of electricity generation from the project. At present, Neelum Jhelum Hydroelectric Project is equipped to provide 969 MW to the National Grid. The Federal Minister had a detailed visit to the Control Room and the Powerhouse. 

 
Chairman WAPDA, Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd.) also accompanied the Federal Minister. The Chief Executive Officer Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project, Project Director, representatives of the consultants, and the contractors were also present at the occasion. The Federal Minister was briefed that the remedial works were carried out day and night on war footings. The Federal Minister commended the efforts made by the team of WAPDA, the consultants, and the contractor for resumption of electricity generation from the project.

Commencement of Services on Developing Tariff Based Mechanism for Bidding and Review of Feasibility Studies for HPPs

Client: Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB)

Duration: 2023-2026

In May 2023, the breakthrough of the second 1.33 km long, 20m Wide, and 23m High Diversion Tunnel of the 4320MW Dasu Hydropower Project (DHPP) located in the Kohistan District of Pakistan trailed the successful completion of the first diversion tunnel in March 2023. This remarkable event of consecutive successions in merely less than three months resulted in the complete diversion of the mighty Indus River successfully from its natural course of flow.

Chairman WAPDA, Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd.) witnessed this magnificent event and appreciated the professional capabilities of the entire Project Management team, the Consultants, and the Contractors for achieving this milestone.

Consequently, the mighty River Indus is being funneled through Two Diversion tunnels, and construction activities have been initiated on the starter dam, leading toward the construction of the main dam of the Dasu Hydropower Project. 

Successfully completed Services as Assistant to Employer's Representative (AER) for Peshawar Karachi Motorway - Sukkur Multan Section (M-5)

Client: National Highway Authority (NHA)

Sukkur Multan Motorway Project involved a six-lane smart motorway equipped with Intelligent Transport System (ITS), 12 interchanges, 12 service areas, 10 rest areas, 100 bridges and numerous other road structures. The project cost is approximately USD 2.9 billion. Construction of Sukkur Multan Motorway was completed in November 2019. Consultancy Services for O&M have also been completed successfully in February 2023.   

Successfully completed services for Construction Supervision of Replacement of Six Gates of Sukkur Barrage and Associated Works on Emergency Basis

Client: Irrigation Department, Govt. of Sindh

Funding: World Bank

The six barrage gates (No. 31, 33, 34, 35, 39 and 40) have been successfully replaced to increase barrage’s design capacity. The width of each new gate is 60 feet, height is 23 feet and weight is 50 tonne. 

Project Implementation Consultants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project

Client: Directorate General, On-Farm Water Management, Govt. of KPK

Funding: World Bank Funded Project

Duration: 42 months

Objective: Project aims at improving performance of irrigated agriculture on smallholder farms in its implementation area. Specific objectives are: Improvement of 14,260 watercourses; HEIS Installation over 11,650 acres; construction of 5,000 water storage tanks; provision of 500 LASER Land Leveler Units; Capacity Building, Strategic Studies and Value Addition; and Project Management and Monitoring.

Award & Commencement of Services for Feasibility Study, Detailed Design of New Small Dams in Potohar Zone

Client: Punjab Irrigation Department

Duration: 24 months

Objectives: Feasibility Studies of 12 Storage Dam sites including detailed design of all components of storage dams, design of command area development project,  engineering and environmental / social studies, training for development of sustainable water resources in Potohar area. 

Completion of Services on USAID's Municipal Services Program - KPK

Client: USAID-Pakistan

USAID’s funded the Municipal Services Program (MSP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been implemented in three administrative divisions namely: Peshawar, Malakand and Dera Ismail (D.I.) Khan. MSPKP is implemented under a government to government (G2G) mechanism through a project management unit (PMU), established by the Govt of KPK. Construction works completed under MSPKP are worth US$ 42 million approximately.

We have effectively delivered Architect-Engineer Services for Independent Third-Party Monitoring of the Municipal Services Program – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for quality oversight and technical guidance to bring the projects under MSPKP to successful completion.
